Republican gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen with a bold campaign move Friday.
Jensen has released a YouTube video urging Minnesotans and businesses in the state to ignore the COVID health guidance and new vaccine requirements announced by President Biden.
In the video, Jensen says, “We have to banish this. Frankly, right now, I am writing the bill. This has got to be, for Minnesota, a Health Freedom Sanctuary State Bill. We’ve got to lead the way. We’ve got to do this. I’m calling on all citizens to stand up.”
Jensen, a Chaska family physician and former state senator, says he has not been vaccinated and has no plans to do so.
The video description on YouTube adds:
"The federal government will not usurp our powers. Minnesota must protect itself against such tyranny. It’s time to meet the moment. I’m calling on all Republicans right now, stand up and be counted. This has gone too far. It hasn’t worked, and we must defend health freedom. We’re welcoming Democrats to stand up against this and take back their state's rights. Walz’s silence is deafening on these overreaches."
Meanwhile, Minnesota DFL Party officials say Jensen is using a crisis "to play politics through gimmicks and political theatre."
