Early voting for Minnesota's Super Tuesday Presidential Primary is underway.
There was one person who got an early jump on things at the Early Vote Center in Minneapolis.
"We did have a voter already here and waiting to be number one at 8:00 a.m.," says Director of Elections and Voter Services Katie Smith.
But to say turnout was minimal would be an understatement.
We've had about three people show up," said Deputy Director of Elections Jon Martin.
Regardless, this is pretty much what was expected for today according to Smith.
"There's a lot of people that just really enjoy waiting and voting on election day," Smith explained. "There's people that are watching their candidates to make sure that they're still staying in the race. This is probably kind of what we were expecting for day one."
However, close to 1,200 mail-in ballots have already been requested across the state.
Unlike most other states, Minnesotans have 46 days to pick their preferred candidate, either through mail-in ballots or in person voting and the process is simple.
"The voting early process is a part of absentee voting, so you'll fill out a request to get your ballot, you'll make your selection for which party's ballot that you are intending to vote," Smith says. You'll get your ballot and it's just the one bubble to fill in and you'll be on your way."
Hours for the Early Vote Center in Minneapolis are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visit here for more info. If you need to register to vote, you can do that here.
