Emergency crews respond to reported house explosion in Anoka County

Fire crews in East Bethel are on the scene of a reported house explosion this morning.

The home is on the 28 hundred block of Viking Blvd, near Greenbrooke Drive. Allina Health spokesperson Timothy Burke says three people were taken from the scene, two by ambulance and one by helicopter to HCMC. Their conditions are not known.


According to a release from Anoka County:

"At approximately 8:25 AM, Anoka County Emergency Communications began receiving reports of an explosion in the area of Viking Blvd. NE and Greenbrook Dr. NE in the City of East Bethel. Anoka County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded with the East Bethel Fire Department and located what appeared to be an explosion scene at a home under construction in the 2800 block of Viking Blvd. NE. Emergency personnel discovered that three people were trapped in the home and initiated rescue operations with the assistance of the North Metro SRT (Special Rescue Team). Allina Paramedics and Life Link EMS also responded to the scene. All three victims are adult males and all three were transported to HCMC. One was transported by air ambulance and two were transported by ground ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The cause of the apparent explosion is under investigation by the East Bethel Fire Department, the State Fire Marshall’s Office, the Anoka County Fire Investigation Team, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. This investigation is in its early stages and additional information will not be released at this time."

The Anoka County Sherrif's Department said there was never an ongoing danger to the public but the scene remains active and they're urging residents to stay away
