The estranged wife of Minnesota Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell is in jail. She's been charged with first degree attempted murder for allegedly trying to kill the couple's disabled son.
According to the criminal complaint, 64-year old Julie Louise Mhyre-Schnell put her anti-anxiety medication into their grown son's feeding bag late last year so he would, "go to sleep forever."
33-year old Paul Francis Schnell lives in a care facility and survived the ordeal.
The complaint says Myre-Schnell admitted to several people that she attempted to kill their son. According to the complaint, she sent a text saying her son was being “tortured” during kidney treatments.
Paul Schnell became commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Corrections on January 7, 2019. He was appointed commissioner by Governor Tim Walz.
