The family of a St. Paul man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Maplewood earlier this month is asking anyone with information to step forward.
Mark Koepke, 56, died as he went for a late night walk on December 9. His former wife and longtime friend Darice Koepke said Mark left the home they shared to finish smoking a cigar, something he enjoyed.
"I asked if he wanted me to join him but I was still in my PJs and he didn't feel like waiting for me," Darice said. "So he just went out for a walk to enjoy a cigar, something that we would often times, you know, take a walk in the neighborhood."
Koepke was found struck by a vehicle around 10 p.m. on McKnight Road near Margaret Street.
Maplewood police believe the vehicle that hit Koepke stopped briefly before quickly leaving the scene.
Now, investigators are searching for a 2011 to 2020 dark blue Dodge Caravan that likely has significant front-end damage.
"The person that's responsible for this, I honestly can't imagine what nightmares they may be having," Darice said. "Please come forward, clear your conscience. Give us some closure."
Up to $2,000 is being offered as a reward by the Koepke family and Crime Stoppers.
Anyone with information is asked to call Maplewood police at 651-249-2608.
