The family of Ricky Cobb II is responding to the decision to charge the state trooper who fatally shot him.
Minnesota State Trooper Ryan Londegran is the first law enforcement officer to be charged by Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty since she was elected in 2022.
Ricky's twin brother Rashad Cobb says he wants people to know his brother for how he lived and not just how he died.
"Helping out our community, that's what we've always been about," says Cobb. "You know, so if you think about an angel in human form that was my brother."
Nyra Fields-Miller, Cobb's mother, said she's still at a loss for words but hopes this trial will bring her family some justice.
"I just miss him every day, and Black lives truly do matter, period," she says.
The family says they hope this is a step toward healing for the community and for justice across the country. They also plan to file a civil suit.
