The Minnesota State Fair attracts all kinds of people. Foodies, those looking for rides and games, people-watchers, people that love traveling through the animal barns, shoppers, and it goes on and on.

What about groupies following their favorite band? Yep, they are there too.

The Leinie's Lodge Bandshell is one of the most popular places at the Minnesota State Fair. Obviously, it's free. Taht doesn't hurt.

And it gets in a lot of great names like Minnesota natives Davina and The Vagabonds among many, many others.

Cindy Friedt and her father were at the fairgrounds on Thursday, traveling up from Rochester, Minnesota.

"And my 92-year old dad has been a groupie from the very beginning," Friedt says.

Dewey says Davina's music brings him joy at the fair and at home.

"When my wife passed away and I had her little, what do you call it, I would punch it in once in a while," Dewey explains. "I'd find myself going all the way in the kitchen, so it's just about music."

For an artist like Davina, the State Fair is a fun chance to play for the hometown crowd in between a lot of travel.

"The day after we play the fair, on the 23rd, the band and I are flying to the UK and to Norway," she says. "And then I come back and then I do an East Coast run, so I tour a lot. I get my travel shoes on and get to meet other people and fly and go to different countries."

There are six free stages - in addition to the Grandstand - that offer free music, among other types of acts, all fair long. Find out more about those here.
