WCCO's Mark Freie is reporting that many of of those protestors have left now after 9:00 a.m.

New Thursday morning, a clash between protestors and ICE agents outside the Whipple Federal Building at Fort Snelling.

The crowd, estimated at perhaps 200 at one point, moved closer to the building, chanting and holding signs, American flags, and calling for ICE to leave Minnesota.

At some point, those ICE agents took an aggressive posture and fired pepper balls or other chemical irritants at the crowd.

They were also seen taking down at least four individuals and detaining them. It's unclear what caused that to happen as reporters on the scene did not see anthing obvious to force agents take the aggressive posture.

Since the initial clash, more ICE agents have arrived and formed a human wall betweeen the building and protestors.

WCCO's Mark Freie is reporting that many of of those protestors have left now after 9:00 a.m.

CBS Minnesota's Barret Leone reported all law enforcement on the scene so far has been federal. The Whipple Building at Fort Snelling has been the headquarters for ICE agents in the Twin Cities.

"We have not seen any local law enforcement present here at  the Whipple Building and at the park and ride," Leone explained. "But the folks who are here are, are really standing their ground. There's folks yelling into megaphones, into faces of law enforcement officials. We're seeing just a lot of yelling, not so much the physical stuff anymore. It's been a while since we've seen any chemical irritant or tear gas be deployed into the crowd that is left, but we think that folks have left for their safety."
