An investigation is underway into the cause of a huge fire at a lodge near the town of Lutsen, Minnesota.
Just before 2:00 p.m. on Monday, fire crews were called to the blaze at townhome units at Caribou Highlands Lodge on Ski Hill Road, not far from Lake Superior's North Shore.
Firefighters reported a fully engulfed building which included three units. Two neighboring buildings were evacuated as a precaution.
Several area fire departments assisted the Lutsen crews, including those from Tofte, Grand Marais and Schroeder. No injuries were reported.
Grand Marais radio station WTIP reports the fire began as a chimney fire before being upgraded to a structure fire in a multi-unit building.
Officials from the State Fire Marshall's office are assisting in the investigation.
This fire comes a little more than two years after a fire at another Lutsen-area resort. Investigators determined that fire was started intentionally. That resort's owner is accused of arson and appeared in court just last week to contest the charges.
His next hearing is scheduled for June, but defense attorneys say that might be moved up if information related to the investigation is filed sooner.
