Just announced, Dinner du Nord on Nicollet Mall returns for a second year September 10.

Dinner will once again be served at the longest table in America. It stretches six blocks, and seats 2,000 people.

"It was created last year to really promote our community's hospitality industry, support all of the phenomenal restaurants, food trucks, and hotels that make Minneapolis a great city. But also to really promote downtown," founder Scott Mayer says.

A portion of the proceeds benefit hospitality workers.

"Upper House Foundation is an organization that was started by this incredible woman here in the Twin Cities that supports employees in the restaurant, bar, and hotel industry that are facing some daunting challenges," Mayer adds.

So you get to eat, yes. But you also get to contribute to a good cause.

“Dinner du Nord is one of those events that reminds you exactly why people love Minneapolis,” said Mayor Jacob Frey. “You’ve got thousands of neighbors gathered around one table, some of the best restaurants anywhere in the country showing off their craft, and an entire downtown full of energy. This is Minneapolis at its best and I am so excited for year two!”

But, mostly it's back because people loved it. Mayer says reviews from last year were so positive, it had to be held again.

"People were just having a great time," he said. "They were with friends and they were meeting new people, and I had so many people tell me after the event that, 'oh my gosh, I met this great couple from Bloomington, and we're getting together for drinks next week.' So it was really just a feel-good event."

Tickets go on sale July 1 and you can visit DinnerduNord.org to see the full list of restaurants.
