The first morning of the Derek Chauvin trial started with a press conference outside of the Hennepin County Government Center by attorneys and family members of George Floyd as they rally prior to today's opening statements.
National Action Network President Rev. Al Sharpton among those in attendance. He says that Chauvin's actions weren't unintentional.
"This was not eight seconds. This was not a flash of anger. It became intentional and deliberate. Justice must be intentional and deliberate in this courthouse."
And at 8:46am on the nose, Sharpton asking for family and friends in attendance for a moment of remembrance of George Floyd.
"We are taking a knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds and we want you to think up during that time why Chauvin, during that time, didn't get his knee up."
The jury will be physically seated and opening statements will get underway shortly in the courtroom on the 18th floor of the Government Center.
