Just in time for Valentine's Day, a new gourmet candy store in Apple Valley.
The owners are Ahmed and Rahma Abdelmageed, and Ahmed explained how this dream became reality for the couple.
"My kids love candy and chocolates, and then we would travel more often and then everywhere we go, they ask for either candy store or chocolate store," Abdelmageed explained. "So that's the idea came from."
And it is that global flavor that makes Valley Sweets unique, as they specialize in chocolates from around the world and homemade Turkish Delight.
"It's a big seller here since we opened," he adds.
They're made by his wife, Rahma, who studied the craft. But does Ahmed help out? He responds in a way we can all relate to.
"No, I just eat it."
Although they initially wanted to open around Christmas, it's more fitting they launched in time to satisfy customers sweet tooth's for the holiday of love - Valentine's Day.
For the owners, it was a chance to stand out from the candy crowd.
"Bring something different in here, so it's not just a specific brand," he says. "Just add more variety for customers. To be able to bake and then test and then see what's the difference between chocolate here in the United States and all over."
Valley Sweets and Valley Diner are in the main lobby of Shops on Galaxie at 15322 Galaxie Ave. in Apple Valley.
