Schools in Fridley are closed again Thursday morning despite an arrest being made in connection with online threats that closed them on Wednesday.
A 13-year old boy is in a juvenile detention facility after police say he posted threatening comments online earlier this week. It led to the cancellation of after-school activities in the district on Tuesday afternoon and class cancellations Wednesday.
Despite the arrest, the district says schools will remain closed due to what they call "continued safety concerns" in a statement posted on their website.
Fridley schools had previously scheduled days off Friday and Monday for the Martin Luther King Holiday.
The boy is being held in the Lino Lakes Juvenile Detention faciilty. It's not known if he is a student in the district.
Federal and state officials both assisted in the investigation.
