With the return of Holidazzle to Minneapolis' Nicollet Mall this year, "Friends of Holidazzle" passes are available starting this Friday.

The tax-deductible donation of $100 allows passholders valet parking, access to indoor restrooms, a limited edition souvenir, and a "fast pass" to see Santa Claus.

Downtown Council President and CEO Adam Duininck says Holidazzle is a good way to showcase what Nicollet Mall is capable of in the future.

"Nicollet Mall has been really active this summer," says Duininck. "We've hosted a number of events out on the mall and we've been active on the streets. I think longer term is that, an opportunity for the city to turn Nicollet Mall into more of a pedestrian mall all the time. To have it be more of a park."

Duininck says the Met Council is holding public hearings on potentially rerouting buses off Nicollet Mall.

Other priorities include more trees and green space, and engaging local artists to help bring more vibrancy to the mall.

Holidazzle focuses on featuring local people, places and products that showcase the local food and art scenes, active lifestyle, local entertainers, and community groups that make the city and region unique and special.

Holidazzle runs December 18 through the 22 on Nicollet Mall between 6th Street and Peavey Plaza. Admission to Holidazzle is free and open to the public.
