It's a busy first weekend of summer in St. Paul, with Grand Old Day and the 24th annual Flint Hills Family Festival at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul.
Ordway President and CEO Chris Harrison tells Vineeta Sawkar on the WCCO Morning News their mission is to keep music accessible for all.
"Really search, you know, for artists all over the country," says Harrison. "And then also there's so many Minnesota based artists too that we present on this festival that we're really proud of. Again, it really goes back to that piece of making sure that the performing arts are accessible."
The Friday and Saturday festival includes some unique and interesting performances.
"So everything from Minnesota based artists, Davina and the Vagabonds to Numa, which is an interactive opera for Babies," explains Harrison. "Yes, you heard that right, an opera for babies."
The festival gets underway Friday night and runs through Saturday, both inside the Ordway and outside in Rice Park.
