Logan Bushaw was born with only half a heart, but you'd never know that from the loving and generous way he lives his life.
After two heart transplants and numerous other procedures, 17-year-old Logan and his mom Natalie Bushaw joined WCCO Tuesday morning to announce they were donating 190 Davanni's Pizza gift certificates to University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital for National Pizza Day.
The boy who's spent a lot of time in the hospital says it's his way of giving back to the place that's gone out of their way to make him feel comfortable. "I think they have the best treatment there. They have wonderful specialists and doctors and nurses, and it's just a really great place to stay if you need to go to the hospital," he said.
Nothing says home like the comfort of pizza, which Logan knows more than most. It's a treat he enjoyed throughout childhood when he spent extended time in the hospital.
He said he's sending pizza to others hopes it makes the kids in the hospital realize that someone is thinking about them, they're not alone and gives them a "little boost in motivation."
How does a kid who's struggled with his health his entire life stay so positive? Faith and family is the formula, the Bushaws agreed. "Just everyone around me is always supportive, especially my family, just never-ending love and support," he said.
