Hennepin County opens new Domestic Abuse Service Center
Hennepin County’s new Domestic Abuse Service Center is now on the 14th floor of the government center in downtown Minneapolis.
The expansive set-up has individual offices for private discussions and a play area for any children who are involved in cases.
Siri Lokensgard is the director of the DASC and was at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday.
“Over the past year, DASC has had over 20,000 contacts,” Lokensgard said. “We are committed to eliminating barriers and ensuring victims are not alone during this difficult and stressful time.”
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty was on hand this morning to cut the purple ribbon on the new facility.
“These resources are critical, but the true strength of the center lies in its collaboration with community-based advocacy organizations,” Moriarty said. “These partnerships are the cornerstone of comprehensive advocacy services.”
The service center offers domestic abuse victims help, guidance, and support, including advice on protection orders and legal consultation, all in one location.
