Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson suspected of drunk driving that lead to rollover crash

Hutchinson says he is prepared to “accept the consequences of his poor decision”

Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson is suspected of driving while drunk. Hutchinson crashed a vehicle early Wednesday in near Alexandria, Minnesota according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The rollover occurred about 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 94 about 5 miles east of Alexandria, the State Patrol said.

In a statement, Hutchinson says he was involved in single car crash near Alexandria overnight and that the crash is being investigated as a DUI. Hutchinson says he received serious but not life threatening injuries.

Hutchinson goes on to say he made the inexcusable decision to drive after drinking alcohol and he is “deeply sorry”. Hutchinson says he takes full responsibility for his actions and is prepared to “accept the consequences of his poor decision”.
