Former Minnehaha Academy star Chet Holmgren is back in the Twin Cities today to help families in need this winter.
Holmgren, who's sitting out his first season with the Oklahoma City Thunder due to injury, is distributing winter coats tonight at the Noble Service Center in Brooklyn Park. The center was damaged by arson four weeks ago and that fire destroyed all the coats the center planned for distribution to families in need.
According to Lt. Colonel Dan Jennings, Salvation Army Northern Division commander, Holmgren's act comes at a very important time.
“This has been a very challenging time for our staff and the families we serve. Chet’s desire in wanting to help the people of his hometown is truly heartwarming, and we are extraordinarily grateful for his assistance in replacing these coats.”
In total Holmgren is replacing 170 damaged coats. That event gets underway at 6 p.m.
