A man and woman are dead following a pair of homicides Wednesday night in Minneapolis that unfolded a half-hour from one another.

The first happened at 9:20 p.m. on the 2900 Emerson Ave North when an adult male was shot. He was taken to the hospital and later died. Investigators believe a verbal argument escalated into gunfire and that two suspects were involved.

A woman in her 30s was shot and killed at 9:50 p.m. on the 800 block of Franklin Ave East where a group of people were gathered. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said at some point there was an altercation and the woman was hit by gunfire.

"It's disturbing to have two fatalities so close to each other," O'Hara said. "I think last week their was one shooting in the entire city. Obviously there's a lot going on in our community right now, so yes, this is obviously concerning, but I'm confident we will make progress."

No arrests have been made in either case. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
