Hundreds gathering Monday afternoon in St. Paul to walk nearly five miles in a catholic procession up the entire length of Summit Avenue.

Chief of Staff at the St. Paul Seminary Josh Hengemuhle says the day also welcomed some new members into the church.

"To walk in procession with all of this group from the seminary to the cathedral, there's some symbolism there," says Hengemuhle. "And that we just ordained 13 men as priests in this archdiocese, 11 of whom were formed as priests here at the seminary, and then were ordained at the cathedral, right? And so it's this growing and going out into the world."

Hengemuhle says Monday's procession is part of a larger movement.

"This is part of a national piece, as well that there's these pilgrimages, these processions happening all over the nation at different points in time," explains Hengemuhle. "It's really a source of unity amongst the catholic faithful in a way that is pretty special."

This procession precedes several others that will pass through Wisconsin, Illinois California, Texas, and Connecticut that are all scheduled to arrive in Indianapolis for a National Eucharistic Congress in July.
