More than a few folks were late to work Monday morning, the first workday affected by multiple new road construction projects in the Twin Cities.
Some of us may have eve written down a note to remember those lane closures on 94 - and still we forgot.
"Wow, I knew all about this project. What in the world did I just do?
That's the statement from Minnesota Department of Transportation spokesman Kent Barnard who says it typically takes about a week for drivers to settle into an alternate route after often being on autopilot for years.
"And sometimes it takes that first day of forgetting to not forget again, right? Well, the pain of getting stuck in traffic and being delayed usually is enough to drive that point home to us," says Barnard.
With big projects like the work being done on five bridges on I-94, Barnard says about a third of drivers will not venture out in the first place, a third will find a new route, and that remaining third will continue their normal route - construction and all.
The 94 project is one of several planned through the fall likely to impact drivers.
