Izzy’s ice cream, a longtime staple for sweet-toothed Minnesotans, has decided to fully go out of business according to the Star Tribune.

The ice cream company famous for their tiny "Izzy scoop", closed all their retail outlets in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, but kept making their ice cream for retail sales.

In the end, the owners couldn’t continue the business just on grocery and restaurant business.

Izzy’s Ice Cream shop on Marshall Avenue in St. Paul was a fixture for over two decades. Known for inventive flavors, often featuring local products like Peace Coffee, Summit Oatmeal Stout, and Wild Country Maple Syrup, Izzy’s was an institution before deciding to close down the shop and focus on retail.

They did keep a newer store in Minneapolis open for delivery only, but eventually closed that down as well.

The owners told the Star Tribune the last shipments of their ice cream went out about a month ago, and they were donating the rest.
