A 38-year old is facing second degree murder charges in Anoka County in connection to the death of his son.

Police arrested Jordan Collins Sr. Monday night at home in Columbia Heights after they found the remains of his son Manny Collins in an Elk River landfill last week.

Manny has been missing since early May.

The criminal complaint from Anoka County lays out in some graphic detail the evidence collected in the Columbia Heights home of Collins, including blood stained garbage bags, blood on the bedroom wall, missing pieces of Manny Collins' mattress and carpet in his bedroom, along with several knives in the bedroom closet.

Law enforcement noted that Jordan Collins ceased communication with them after the search warrant was served at the home.

After discovery of Manny Collins, medical examiner's preliminary results from the autopsy found evidence indicating the body was decapitated by knife, and manner of death was homicide.

Toshira Garraway is an activist, who has befriended Manny's mother Ashley Berry helping her to navigate the aftermath of such a tragedy.

"She is grieving tremendously as a mother," says Garraway. "For God's sake, her child was clearly in the garbage."

Authorities say they had video evidence that suggested Manny's remains were taken to that landfill. It took four weeks of searching to finally find his body.

"I don't know how another human being could do that to somebody and go on with their life as if it didn't happen and justify it in their mind," Garraway said adding it hits close to home after her 16-year old son, Justin, died and was later found in a trash dumpster.

"No human being deserves to be disposed of, no matter what," she adds.

Manny’s death remains under investigation by the Columbia Heights Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Bail for Collins has been set at $2 million.
