A verdict handed down Wednesday in the murder trial of Jordan Collins Sr., the man accused of murdering his 16-year-old son whose remains were found in a landfill in Elk River, Minnesota.
It took the jury only three and a half hours of deliberation to find Collins guilty of killing his son Manny last year.
According to court documents, Manny was last seen by his mother on May 8, 2025. After weeks of searching, his remains were recovered on July 1, 2025 in a landfill.
Prosecutors said in court that the autopsy indicated “evidence of decapitation by knife."
Anoka County Attorney Brad Johnson released a statement, which said in part that Manny's death was personal for him.
"To have a child in the community taken was unconscionable," Johnson said.
Collins faces up to 40 years in prison. His sentencing has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on December 2 in Anoka County.
“Those impacted will have an opportunity to address the court at sentencing, and we will continue to seek justice for Manny,” added Johnson.
