Charges of 3rd degree murder will not be reinstated against former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin and the other three officers charged with the death of George Floyd.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison tried to get that charge reinstated based on an appeals court ruling in the Mohamed Noor case. Noor is the former Minneapolis officer who shot and killed Justine Damond.
In his ruling denying the reinstatement of the 3rd degree murder charge, Judge Peter Cahill says nothing in the Noor appellate court ruling persuades him that he was wrong in his decision to dismiss the charge.
Chauvin is charged with 2nd-degree unintentional murder and 2nd degree manslaughter in Floyd's death.
