More than 110 union workers at Kemps in Farmington have voted to authorize a strike.
The Teamsters members who make cultured dairy products like sour cream and cottage cheese want better benefits, wages and strike protections. Kemps distributes dairy products across the Midwest.
This is not an immediate walk-off.
Kemp's parent company, Dairy Farmers of America, says they are actively engaged in ongoing contract negotiations with International Brotherhood of Teamsters on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement that 'continues to offer competitive wages and benefits.'
"We remain committed to a respectful, constructive bargaining process in good faith and to reaching a fair and equitable agreement that best supports our employees, their wellbeing, and the long-term success of our farmer-owners and their Cooperative," the DFA said in a statement provided to WCCO Radio.
