Get your listening ears ready, as there will be guitars and more live music than you'll have time to hear at this weekend's Lakeside Guitar Festival in St. Paul.
The festival is kicking off at the Como Lakeside Pavilion, where dozens of artists from all over the world will take to three stages over the next three days.
The festival is a fundraiser for Music Mission, which provides instruments, instruction, and performance opportunities to underserved communities in the Americas.
Co-founder Todd Clouser is a Minnesota musician and producer who has lived in Mexico for the past 8 years.
“[I] just kind of saw there was a need in all these different communities that I had the fortune to visit in Mexico all the time and thought maybe I could connect it to what I do back here in Minnesota,” Clouser said.
Co-founder and local musician Molly Maher says it's also a way for her to give back.
The three-day festival is free and also includes a vendor village, an improviser’s stage, a pedal swap, and even a strum-along. A ticketed event featuring an extra lineup of musicians closes it out Sunday night at the Turf Club in St. Paul.
