A Lino Lakes man wanted for kidnapping and first-degree assault after allegedly kidnapping, tying up, and assaulting a man in December was arrested Friday night after leading Brooklyn Park police on a brief pursuit.
Jose Angel Chapa-Aguilera, 23, was arrested taken into custody around 6:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 94 near State Highway 169 after fleeing a traffic stop.
Investigators say Chapa-Aguilera held an adult male victim captive for more than a day in a crawl space underneath a Brooklyn Park home. The victim told police that he drove two women, including one he knew, to the home on Ronald Place on December 20.
Once at the home, the women asked him to come inside and that once inside. Chapa-Aguilera held a gun to the man's head and accused him of being in a dispute with one of the women.
The victim was then tied up, beaten with a pipe, and burned with a kitchen knife before he was put inside the crawl space. The following day the victim was able to flee and seek help from a neighbor once Chapa-Aguilera and one of the women briefly left the home.
Officers searched the home finding meth, marijuana, and the crawl space.
The victim was hospitalized for several days with extensive injuries. Two women are named as co-defendants in the case in separate complaints.
