Meet the women hoping to raise the spirits of healthcare workers

Podcast hosts J.E.T. Setting Divas will be delivering gift baskets "to bring some joy" to healthcare workers

A trio of women known as the J.E.T. Setting Divas have been hard at work putting together gift baskets for healthcare workers.

“Just here to show love to the frontline workers,” says Jeanette Dillard. “I know that they're working and they're trying to stop COVID, and save lives. So I want to just show love to them.”

That love is coming in the form of 100 gift baskets that will be delivered Tuesday morning to healthcare workers at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.  The gift baskets include everything from heated blankets, lotions, gift cards and snacks.

Evette Washington is the E in the J.E.T. Setting Divas podcast. She said businesses in the Twin Cities were generously donating items for the baskets.

“General Mills, you know, donated snacks,” Washington told WCCO’s Mark Freie. “We have snacks from Hy-Vee. We have little things like caps mittens, scarves, just things that you know that they can use right now.”

The J.E.T. Setting Divas actually started putting together similar gift baskets last year around Valentine's Day.

“It was you know, definitely the same kind of time where you know they were overworked,” Tina Burleson, who is the third member of the podcast, told WCCO. “A lot of the workers had been working nonstop, many hours together.”

The J.E.T. Setting Divas hoped to raise the spirits of healthcare workers who have sacrificed so much during the pandemic.

“A lot of nurses have actually quit working,” says Dillard.  “I mean they stopped working, they've just been so stressed out with COVID. So we want to give them something just to say thank you.”

“Mentally, we know that they need the same kind of support that they are giving the patients that they're caring for,” adds Burleson.

The J.E.T. Setting Divas will hand deliver the gift baskets to healthcare workers Tuesday morning outside the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.
