
A metro area firefighter is dead following an early morning shooting Sunday in south Minneapolis.
Police were called around 12:40 a.m. to the 900 block of Cedar Avenue South and found a man in his 40s with life threatening injuries in a parking lot. He died at the hospital while a second man suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Eden Prairie officials confirmed Sunday afternoon the man who died was Joseph C. Johns who worked for the Eden Prairie and Eagan fire departments.
Johns was not on duty at the time of the shooting.
Minneapolis police haven't said what led up to the shooting. So far there are no arrests.
