Despite criticism on social media, Metro Transit says it likely will not have extra late-night train service for the thousands of so-called “Swifties” converging on U.S. Bank Stadium next weekend.

Taylor Swift is playing Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24, with 60,000 fans expected each night.

Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr spoke with WCCO-TV about the decision not to offer extra service.

“When we have these late nights, people coming out after the service is scheduled to stop, that’s where we have some challenges,” Kerr said.

Kerr says a train operator shortage is to blame, as he added that they’re barely getting by with the 85 operators they do have.

The last train scheduled to leave U.S. Bank Stadium station is at 11:31 Friday and Saturday nights, roughly the time Swift’s concerts are expected to end.

“We are very committed to the service that’s on the schedule… We hope that there are people who will be able to utilize those trips,” Kerr said.
