Once again, Metro Transit customers can ride free New Year's Eve. No fares. No coupons. Just jump on and jump off.
That comes just in time for Sunday night's big Vikings game against the Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium plus various New Year's celebrations as well.
Fares will be waived all evening during the holiday.
"That game's going to be getting out around 10:30 so why not avoid the hassle of trying to park, get to the stadium, and get out of there when you can take the Northstar or light rail, or Metro Transit bus home for free," says Metro Transit's Nikki Muehlhausen.
She says it is literally any of their ride options, not just local buses.
"Anyone can hop aboard a light rail, a bus, same with any of the Metro Valley Transit Authority buses, as well as the Northstar from 6:00 until the end of service," explains Muehlhausen.
The Metro Blue and Green Line trains only run through 11:30 p.m. on Sunday so they're asking riders to plan accordingly if you'll be out to ring in the start of 2024.
The free rides are sponsored by Miller LITE and MillerCoors reimburses Metro Transit for the rides during these promotional events.
