Minneapolis and St. Paul have announced they are lifting their winter parking restrictions on Wednesday at 8 a.m. as snow across the Twin Cities continues to melt.

Minneapolis first put its restrictions in place on Jan. 25, after snow accumulation made it difficult for emergency vehicles to travel in the city. St. Paul put its restrictions in place on March 10, enacting a 1-side parking ban on residential streets.

Now, parking will return to normal rules and regulations thanks to the recent warm weather and sunshine helping melt the snow, which neared record accumulation for the cities.

“As always, drivers should continue to follow all rules on any posted parking signs,” the cities said in a press release.

Minneapolis Public Works Director Margaret Anderson Kelliher offered thanks to residents who abided by the restrictions, helping keep the city safer.

“We thank everyone for their patience and compliance with these rules,” Kelliher said.

Kelliher’s counterpart in St. Paul, Sean Kershaw, also offered his appreciation, sharing that the city’s “plow and emergency vehicle drivers appreciated residents’ compliance so they could continue to safely access and clear our streets this winter.”

Information on parking rules for Minneapolis and St. Paul can be found on the cities’ websites.
