Minneapolis hotels surged past the $14 Million revenue mark, setting an all time record. The city was sold out last weekend with a staggering 63,000 occupied hotel rooms.
Downtown council president Adam Dunnick says it's a good sign of recovery post pandemic.
"These are real significant achievements. I think that that's a good sign for the direction the city's going," Duininck explains.
The uptick was mainly fueled by a packed calendar of major events, especially the high profile Farm Aid 40th Anniversary concert at the University of Minnesota's Huntington Bank Stadium.
Last week marked the first time that the city surpassed 60,000 hotel guests in a weekend.
"We always want to lean into all of the strengths of downtown, which is living there, working there, and going out and doing arts entertainment," Duininck says. "But for now, I think arts and entertainment and nightlife is really gonna continue to be a main driver for the importance of, of spending time downtown."
Total guest room revenue was $14.2 million.
Minneapolis was the site for Vikings, Twins, and Lynx games, as well as Farm Aid.
