While Governor Walz did not impose a curfew around the state tonight, he left the decision up to individual cities and counties. Minneapolis, St. Paul and other suburban cities have declared curfews for their cities to help prevent civil unrest.

Minneapolis Instituted a state of emergency, which allowed Mayor Jacob Frey to impose a 10pm-6am curfew on the city. The curfew will hold a few exceptions including credentialed members of the press, law enforcement, emergency responders, those traveling to and from work or religious services, and the following community patrol organizations: A Mother’s Love, Center for Multicultural Mediation, Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI), Corcoran Neighborhood Organization and T.O.U.C.H. Outreach, Change Equals Opportunity (C.E.O.), Restoration Inc., and We Push for Peace.

Other cities that enacted 10pm curfews on Tuesday night are Robbinsdale, Crystal, Maple Grove, Columbia Heights and New Hope. Champlin will impose a curfew starting at 7pm.
