Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar remembering Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the oldest-sitting U.S. senator, who died today at the age of 90.

“She led on things from the assault weapon ban to the violence against women bill," says Klobuchar. "She was out front on banning torture in the military and always was willing to take on some tough issues. And in that way was such a great role model.”

Klobuchar added that Feinstien was a trailblazer for women in politics.

“Dianne Feinstein was a monumental figure in Congress. She paved the way for so many women to serve in the Senate. I think people are somewhat focused right now and that she got older and she was old. But when you got to work with her as I did, when people saw her as a mayor and leading on the national stage, it was for me, there weren't many women in politics.”

Feinstein’s death will intensifying the race to replace her, with more than a year left in her term.
