We're getting more details about an incident that shutdown Interstate 94 in North Minneapolis for several hours over the weekend.
23-year-old Eddie Freeman III of Minneapolis faces several felony charges after allegedly firing shots at police Saturday night on the side of the freeway.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the State Patrol responded to the area near Dowling Avenue North following a car crash and were met with immediate gunfire.
One trooper identified as Mark Vande Steeg fired back, although no one was struck by gunfire or injured. Vande Steeg is on critical incident leave which is standard procedure.
Body and dashcam video captured portions of the incident.
Investigators say a woman who was driving the crashed vehicle told police Freeman had grabbed the steering wheel and caused the crash after she told him their relationship was over.
Freeman is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
