More snow is set to fall across Minnesota on Wednesday after the latest winter storm system dropped up to 9 inches of snow in places like Raymond and Mound on Tuesday.

According to WCCO Radio chief meteorologist Paul Douglas, up to five inches of additional snow could fall by the time the system tapers off on Thursday.

"The storm system is stalled now over northeastern Iowa," Douglas said. "Yesterday was the first half and the second half comes today and tonight. We could see an additional 3 to 5 inches, I still think most of us will be up around 7, 8, and even 10 inches from the past couple of days."

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday for Crow Wing, South Aitkin, Carlton and South St. Louis Counties, including the Tribal Lands of the Mille Lacs Band, East Lake area, and the Fond du Lac Band.

A winter weather advisory blankets the Twin Cities, western, and southern Minnesota until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

"It'll still be very slippery out there on Wednesday," added Paul. "It'll be near freezing, so that should help MnDOT crews."
