Reward offered for suspect in stabbings

One person died, another critical

A reward is being offered for anyone with information leading to the arrest of a man wanted for stabbing three people at three different locations in Minneapolis all within 25 minutes.

Minneapolis police say the attacks took place on Wednesday March 17, 2021 at 9:21 in the morning, when a suspect stabbed 78-year-old Maria Elena Mantini at the bus shelter at Chicago and Franklin Avenue East. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The victim was transported to Hennepin Health Care where she later died from her injuries.

Shortly thereafter at 9:30 am, an unknown suspect approached a 76-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk at 2215 Park Avenue South, waiting for his wife who was at doctor’s appointment. The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times and fled on foot. The victim was transported to Hennepin Health Care for treatment.

Then at 9:45 am, a 28 year man was stabbed while he was sitting in a bus shelter at Lake Street and 12th Avenue South by an unknown male who fled on foot. The victim was transported to Hennepin Health Care for medical care.

"There is nothing that we have found in our investigation that would lead us to believe that the suspect knew the victims," said John Elder a city spokesperson for the police department.

The Minneapolis Police Department working in conjunction with Metro Transit Police have determined that the suspect in all three of these crimes appears to be the same individual, wearing the same clothing and similar crime pattern.

The suspect is described as a black male with black hair, possibly 5’7 -5’9, age unknown and at the time of the crimes, had facial hair.
