A fundraiser involving Murray's in downtown Minneapolis and the family of Sid Hartman hopes to benefit three causes that were close to Sid and remain close the Hartman family.
Murray's will donate 25 percent from each of the Murray's Silver Butter Knife steaks that are sold on Thursday to Children's Minnesota, Gillette Children's Hospital, and the DYRK-1-A Association.
"We hope to donate a significant amount of money from sale of those Silver Butter Knife steaks to Sid's charities," said Tim Murray, owner of the legendary steakhouse.
Sid's son, Chad Hartman, host of the Chad Hartman Show on WCCO Radio, discussed the reason for the fundraiser and the connection to his family.
"A couple of years ago my son, Quintin, was diagnosed with DYRK-1-A Syndrome. About 400 to 500 people have this," Chad told Dave Lee on Thursday. "What we are trying to do is raise money for DYRK-1-A, Children's Hospital, and Gillette Children's Hospital. None of this is going to my family."
Hartman, who died October 18, 2020 at the age of 100, would have celebrated his 101st birthday on March 15.
