New information concerning the apparent standoff in Bloomington overnight.
According to the police report, officers from Richfield responded to a suicide threat at a residence on the 8700 block of 12th Avenue South in Bloomington around midnight.
They were aiding the Bloomington Police Department because other officers from the city were responding to a burglary in process.
Shortly after arriving, there was an exchange of gunfire with a man in crisis and the officers.
Bloomington’s Emergency Response Unit and crisis negotiators communicated with the male by telephone.
After roughly four hours, the suspect surrendered and was immediately taken into custody. He's currently being held at the Bloomington Police Department.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is also investigating because it was an officer involved shooting.
