Northstar Commuter Rail service halted Friday morning after a collision with a truck

Metro Transit says a collision has halted Northstar Commuter Rail service Friday morning between the Twin Cities and Big Lake.

Buses are replacing that service and all stations will be served by the replacement bus service.

An update on afternoon service will be provided later according to Metro Transit.

At approximately 7:12 a.m., a northbound Northstar train struck a vehicle stopped on the tracks near the intersection of 119th Ave. NW and Northdale Blvd. in Coon Rapids, according to Metro Transit.

They say that the crossing is equipped with warning lights, bells, and gates.
The driver was transported to an area hospital but that person's condition is unknown.

Metro Transit Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Coon Rapids Police Department, and Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The Metro Transit Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol are jointly investigating the collision.
