At least two suspects are still at-large following a shooting that left one person dead and another person injured late Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn Park.

Police responded just after 5 p.m. to the shooting in the 7200 block of Zane Avenue North.

"Unfortunately that area has been plagued by a high-level of violence," said Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Elliot Faust. "We had officers that were actually in the area, just down the block, that immediately responded to the call. So we were very close by."

Officers found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while another victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Faust said the suspects fled on foot and that police weren't able to find them after several hours of searching.

"Given the dense population and given that it's Halloween, we wanted to put every resource that we had available to us in motion to make sure the area was as safe as we could make it."

Police believe several people were in the area of 73rd Avenue and Zane Avenue North at the time of shooting.

Anyone with information, including video that may have captured the shooting, is asked to contact the Brooklyn Park Police Department at 763-493-8222.
