Officials say alcohol was involved in an early Monday morning crash that claimed one life and closed part of the Crosstown Highway near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The name of the victim is not released, while the driver of the vehicle is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol website.
The car's passenger died at the scene and is identified only as a 21-year-old from Como, Colorado.
According to the MSP website, the crash happened at 3:23 a.m. Monday on eastbound Highway 62 at the 34th Ave. bridge.
The posting says a Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer was traveling east on Highway 62 when it was driven into a ditch and then collided with the underpart of the bridge.
The highway was closed between Cedar and 34th Avenue remained closed at mid-day.
The car's driver is identified as 34-year-old Brian Dale Cravey of Wills Point, Texas.
There was also a crash between an MSP squad car and a Minneapolis fire truck not far from the original crash site.
Both vehicles were responding to the first crash.
A trooper was injured but we don't know the extent of those injuries as of yer..
There are no further details released by State Patrol officials.
