The Penn State Nittany Lions defeated host Minnesota in Wednesday’s first game of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament at Target Center, and while many fans in attendance were disappointed, one family was happy just to be able to see their daughter and sister suit up and play.

Ivane Tensaie transferred to Penn State before this season, after a stellar freshman year playing for North Dakota State School of Science. The Concorida Academy alumna came off the bench for the Nittany Lions this season.

“It’s an unbelievable blessing to be able to be here in our hometown to be able to watch her live her dream of playing division one basketball at the highest level,” said her brother, Robie, on Wednesday after the game.

He said he was able to see Ivane at the team hotel Tuesday after the Nittany Lions arrived.

“We were able to get a chance to reminisce a little bit before she had to go into her team meeting and to be able to kind of just reflect and be thankful for the journey she’s traveled to this point,” he said.
