Minneapolis police are still searching for suspects - and a motive - after a shooting on Boom Island north of downtown Minneapolis Sunday night left one woman dead and five men injured.

It's still very much a crime scene with yellow tape blocking the entrance to the parkway and with officers still on the scene gathering hundreds of pieces of evidence. This comes after multiple shots rang out overnight claiming the life of one woman.

The scene has deeply shaken nearby residents who say they usually feel safe.

"We live right on the riverbank across the river here and we don't typically, you know, hear of much trouble going on," one resident told WCCO Radio's Taylor Rivera. "So again, feel pretty safe."

Five men were also injured in the incident. So far no arrests have been made.

Midday Monday, there was a large police presence reported at a north Minneapolis apartment complex off on Lyndale Avenue. Interestingly, it's only about one mile from Boom Island where Sunday's shooting took place.

Right now, it's unclear if these two incidents are connected as we wait for more information from investigators.

The shootings were described as a warzone by Police Chief Brian O'Hara.

"It's sickening and we need people to come forward to provide additional information," O'Hara said early Monday adding more than one shooter was likely involved.

Police could take quite a while to comb through the evidence which O'Hara said is significant.
