One person was shot and killed by a police officer at a northern Minnesota homeless shelter late Sunday night.
In a press release, the Crookston Police Department said a man was "being combative toward officers and was now following officers' verbal commands" inside the Care and Share homeless shelter at 220 East 3rd Street in Crookston.
Police responded around 11:45 p.m. to a call about a fight at the shelter. Less lethal means were deployed before the officer shot the individual who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crookston police did not say whether or not the man was armed or not, or if police-worn body cameras captured the incident.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the killing.
Sunday night's deadly shooting comes after Crookston police shot and killed Andrew Dale, 35, who police say was holding a hatchet as he approached officer Nick Fladland in late May.
