The National Weather Service is projecting the Mississippi, Minnesota, and St. Croix rivers to crest above flood stage over the next couple of days.
In St. Paul, crews on Friday block off Water Street and Lillydale Road along the Mississippi River shoreline southeast of downtown.
Here is a list of other parks in St. Paul that could be affected by rising water:
• Chestnut Plaza
• City House
• Crosby Farm Regional Park
• Desnoyer Trail
• Fish Hatchery Trail
• Harriet Island Pavilion and public dock
• Hidden Falls Regional Park
• Kelly's Landing
• Lamberts Landing
• Lilydale Regional Park
• Raspberry Island
• Robert Piram Trail
• Upper Landing
• Victoria Park
• Watergate Marina
“We monitor the Mississippi River levels all year long. Temporarily closing Water Street is a standard practice by the city when the river levels start to rise,” said Sean Kershaw, St. Paul Public Works director.
A day after meeting with emergency preparedness leaders from the local, state, and federal level, Gov. Walz is scheduled to visit Hastings, where flood preparations continue
Other parts of Minnesota are taking similar precautions.
Right now, there is moderate flooding on the Red River along the border with North Dakota.
