Minnesota senior U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar will be returning to Washington. The Associated Press is projecting the Democrat will win her fourth straight election in Minnesota defeating Republican challenger Royce White.

Klobuchar, the former Hennepin County Attorney, continues a streak of Democrats winning statewide elections in Minnesota. The GOP hasn’t won a race for a statewide office since Tim Pawlenty was re-elected Governor of the state in 2006, the same year Klobuchar won her seat in the U.S. Senate.

White was a surprise choice to take on the widely popular Klobuchar. A former star basketball player who played briefly in the NBA, White maintained he is a voice for change and a way to upset the status-quo in Washington D.C., but also with some controversial statements and social media posts in his background.
